Tanja studied at the Institute of Culinary Arts, in Stellenbosch, graduating in 2004. Tanja was Winner of the Gasdronomica Chaine des Rotisseurs Young chefs competition 2007, Winner regional Chaine des Rotisseurs Competition 2008, and represented South Africa in Paris for international JCR 2008. In 2009 Tanja received the "Gastronomix young chef of the year" in the garden route award. Since May 2011 Tanja has been working at DeHuguenot Estate as Executive Chef and recently moved to Majeka House

| What was your worst culinary catastrophe? | Throwing all of my meat onto the grill because I was spinning too much to remember how to count! |
| What is your fondest memory in the kitchen? | Sitting in the kitchen after a very long shift and thinking that it sounds like a symphony - it was then that I knew that I belonged to the madness! |
| What do you eat for breakfast? | Green juice |
| What dish would you cook to seduce someone? | Something quick and easy, to leave time for other things! |
| What do you never cook? | Nothing - I'm willing to try everything once! |
| Who is the most famous person you've ever cooked for? | The most exciting person was Richard Branson |
