
Siyabulela Kobo
Intercontinental at OR Thambo
Born in Umtata in the Eastern Cape, Siyabulela originally had dreams of being a Mechanical Engineer, but he discovered his passion for food while working as a waiter. Siya went on to train at the Southern Sun O.R. Tambo and elevated himself to a Head Chef position. Siya also took part in culinary competitions –Super Chef challenge, Mushroom Chef de cuisine, and took first prize in the Rising star competition.

| What was your worst culinary catastrophe? | In my early years I put peri-peri sauce in a pasta dish instead of Napolitana Sauce |
| What is your fondest memory in the kitchen? | Wearing my chef uniform for the first time at chef training at the Southern Sun OR Tambo |
| What do you eat for breakfast? | Muesli, plain yoghurt and an apple |
| What do you never cook? | Brussel Sprouts |
| What is the one dish you find hard to get right? | Soufflés - they are SUCH a challenge! |
