SACA launches its office in Soweto
2012/7/24
South African Chefs Association is excited to announce that it is expanding its reach and launching an office in Soweto. Located within the Soweto Hotel & Conference Centre and managed by Chef Adelaide Maila, this office will be a point-of-call for SACA members in Soweto and surrounding areas.
Since 1974, the South African Chefs Association has been promoting the art and science of cookery in our country. Growing and developing over the years, the association now has over 6,300 members and regional committees across South Africa.
A significant portion of SACA members are based in and around Soweto, and the new SACA Soweto Office marks an important milestone in SACA’s history, enabling new opportunities for training, events and networking in the area. An office in Soweto also means that SACA can better cater for the members there and aims to expand the membership too.
“Soweto is an exciting and important growth market in the hospitality industry in South Africa and SACA is thrilled to now be located in Soweto to spearhead training initiatives and create exposure for the culinary profession. We aim to establish a presence in the community and offer a better service to the members who live in the area. Not only a positive move for SACA, this is also seen as beneficial for our sponsors, both existing and future,” says Stephen Billingham, President of SACA.
Soweto has seen incredibly positive growth in the hospitality market in recent years and it continues develop. There is a wave of new opportunities in Soweto and SACA is excited to be a part of this growth – promoting quality and training in the culinary field and providing a platform for caterers, cooks, restaurateurs and chefs to network and progress.
The new SACA office is located in the Soweto Hotel & Conference Centre in Kliptown and is in partnership with SACA Patron Sponsor, Excella Cooking Oils, as well as the Soweto Hotel & Conference Centre.
The launch event with Benny Masekwameng!
The official launch party is taking place on 27 July 2012 at the Soweto Hotel & Conference Centre, where invited VIP guests, SACA board members, food & beverage professionals and media will be there to celebrate this exciting and important milestone for SACA.
A festive afternoon of networking, gourmet canapés and Kliptown-style cocktails, we are excited to announce that MasterChef South Africa judge Benny Masekwameng will be at the launch event too!
