At the end of May, we celebrated the one year anniversary of the opening of the Skills Kitchen – and to date over 450 people have been trained at the kitchen, through 1-day, 5-day, 10-day courses. We would like to thank all of the institutes that have sent through their staff, as well as all of the chefs that have come through of their own accord, to brush up on their skills.
The Anniversary celebration was a fantastic event, with invited guests being made up of sponsors and partners in the Skills Kitchen project. Graham Donet MC’d the event, and Stephen Billingham, Dr. Bill Gallagher, Professor Daneel van Lill and Karen Borain all gave short speeches. The highlight of the event was the handing over of the City & Guilds accreditation by Juan Visser – the Skills Kitchen is now City & Guilds certified, and this was given in record time, and would not have been possible without the assistance of City & Guilds.
