The South African Chefs Association is once again taking part in one of the biggest events in International Hospitality and Catering Exhibition.
Hostex is the largest and longest-running exhibition of its kind in Africa, and the only one endorsed by the South African Chefs Association, attracting 6 000+ visitors in three days. An integral part of the local food services and hospitality sector for 25 years in Gauteng, and returning to the Cape for the ninth time from 15 to 17 May 2012 at Cape Town International Convention Centre, HOSTEX promises to bring all the attractions which have become firm favourites, as well as some new and exciting additions.
From non-stop action in the SA Chefs Village, the Hostex Wine Circle and competitions such as the SA Barista Championships, and the Global Pizza Challenge, HOSTEX Cape will be hotter than ever before.

The South African Chefs Village to feature Exciting Line-up at Hostex 2012
The South African Chefs Association is once again taking part in the biggest International Hospitality and Catering Exhibition in Cape Town from the 15th to the 17th of May 2012. The South African Chefs Village, proudly presented by Nestlé Professional will feature an exciting programme with local and international food demonstrations, culinary displays and thrilling competitions.
Visitors will be able to learn secrets and tricks from top chefs as they perform demonstrations daily. Aside from these not- to-be-missed demonstrations, the South African Chefs Association will be putting young chefs to the test in three exciting competitions: The City & Guilds Student Skills Challenge,The McCain Tribute to Good Taste and The Nestlé Professional Golden Chefs Hat competition.
The prestigious annual competition, The City & Guilds Student Skills challenge will see four teams of two students from South Africa’s top culinary schools competing against each other to demonstrate their chef’s skills. They will be tested over the 3 days of Hostex and be put through their paces by the daily challenges. The winning team will take home the highly coveted City & Guilds Skills Challenge Trophy, as well as a R5000 cash prize, and the title of City & Guilds Skills Challenge Winner 2012.
The McCain Tribute to Good Taste competition has previously been won by the likes of Stacy Lee Chan and Jodi-Ann Pearton and will see four promising youngsters compete in an exciting cook-off to win the reputed title.
The Golden Chefs Hat award is a prestigious competition the world over. Chefs who have won this coveted award have gone onto international fame & glory. It is a team mystery box challenge using an assortment of Nestlé Professional products and will ensure great entertainment at the show.
Another great attraction at the Chefs Village will be Culinary Team South Africa. Our Culinary Springboks are getting set to compete in the IKA Culinary Olympics hosted in Erfurt, Germany in October 2012. Visitors will be able to see Culinary Team South Africa members putting on culinary feats as they demonstrate the skills that made them National Team members.
