Live cooking demonstrations and hands-on cooking workshops mean visitors can rub shoulders with culinary kings and queens like James Martin, Celia Brooks Brown, Jonathan Daddia, Atul Kochhar and celebrities like Jeremy & Jacqui Mansfield, Pieter-Dirk Uys, and others.
Members of Culinary Team South Africa, Roberto de Carvalho, Nadin Pospech-Demmler, Peter Gyorgyicsek and Tanja Kruger will perform live cooking demonstrations at the Academy of Chefs Kitchen Theatre. This Kitchen Theatre aims to raise funds and awareness for the Bidvest World Chefs Tour Against Hunger, a South African Chefs Association event. From 21 to 30 August, 200 chefs from over 30 countries will visit South Africa to help raise funds and awareness for the phlight of the hungry. The Health and Wellness Theatre, the newest addition to the show, goes beyond the buzz to highlight global trends in sustainability, plus, inspiring cooking demonstrations that feature fresh produce and wholesome meals will show us all how to live well every day.
An event for the whole family, the show also boasts the CBeebies Little Cooks Zone, in association with DSTV. Plus, cooking classes from Tots-n-Pots focus on combating childhood obesity in a format that makes healthy eating fun.
The Amarula Outdoor Experience, in association with Weber, Food Network and Tydstroom Poultry, is designed around the outdoor dining experience – including cooking demonstrations on a state-of-the-art Weber braai – showing visitors the luxurious side of the great outdoors.
A plethora of beer and whisky tastings will be on hand for the discerning palate, and the Wine Theatre, sponsored by Dometic Waeco, in association with Crystal Direct, will take visitors on a tour of the wine lands without even leaving the show. Visitors can learn expert tips on how to choose the perfect wine from wine ambassador Vicente Traviesa, from Chile’s largest winery Concha y Toro, and a showcase of premium domestic and imported wines will be available for tasting and purchase at great show prices. Plus, demonstration by the best bartenders in the country at the Interactive Cocktail Theatre will teach visitors to how to unlock their inner mixologist while concocting their favourite tipples.
Remember to always end on a sweet note – the Dessert Theatre will feature the most delicious winter puds, and try as they might, chocoholics won’t be able to resist the call of the Lindt Chocolate Theatre with its line-up of decadent treats and workshops that unlock the secrets normally reserved for chocolatiers.
