The South African Chefs Association and Huletts are proud to announce a brand new competition to add to the culinary calendar – the Huletts Sweet Young Chef Competition.
This competition is open to young chefs from across South Africa, under the age of 25, who are passionate about the culinary arts and can showcase the endless possibilities of baking and cooking with sugar.
Submit one original recipe and photograph of an innovative dish that utlises one or more of the products in the Huletts range. Please be sure to indicate exactly which Huletts product you will be using in your recipe. This recipe needs to be a unique, creative expression of the endless possibilities of sugar, and it can be a starter, main course, dessert, celebration bake or tea time treat.
To enter the competition, you will need to email your recipe and photograph, along with your contact details and the name of the culinary school that you attend, or the workplace where you are employed. Please send your email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line: HULETTS SWEET YOUNG CHEF.
You can submit your entries between now and 5 December 2014. No entries submitted /received after midnight on 5 December 2014 will be accepted.
One of the senior culinary lecturers at the South African Chefs Association, along with Huletts representatives, will select the top recipe based on its innovative use of a Huletts product in the recipe.
The winner of the 2014 Huletts Sweet Young Chef will win R3000 cash for their culinary school and R4000 cash for themselves. They will also receive one free culinary workshop at SACA’s Centre for Culinary Excellence and will be featured in Chef! Magazine. Please note that if the winning young chef is no longer attending culinary school, and is in the workplace, the prize money allocated for the school will no longer apply.
